Elisa Spampinato

Community Connector and Storyteller, Elisa Spampinato has dedicated her professional life to creating visibility for Indigenous communities and turning tourism into a tool for their sustainable development.

In 2020, she founded Traveller Storyteller with the mission to support the self-empowerment of rural, urban and Indigenous Communities involved in tourism through Community Storytelling and Ethical Marketing.

She uses storytelling with an anthropological approach and writes compelling stories alongside local community members to ensure their narratives reach broader audiences.

She designs and delivers tailor-made Community Storytelling training programmes aimed at strengthening and developing storytellers at the grassroots level, to boost the ethical marketing of their products and services and design more engaging travel experiences for the visitors.

She co-creates new, appealing marketing collateral, working alongside Community-Based Tourism Enterprises to support their market access and visibility, while bringing their narratives and perspectives to travel marketing and making it more inclusive and diverse.

Elisa’s innovative approach to storytelling has made her an invaluable consultant to tourism entrepreneurs, SMMEs, national Tourism Boards, NGOs, and private companies. She specialises in helping destinations highlight their positive impact stories and uncover the rich, often untold, cultural narratives of Indigenous communities.
